Bob Mason has been involved in community banking in Georgia since 1967, serving at various times as Senior Commercial Lending Officer, founding Director and President of various institutions. He resides in Madison, Georgia and is currently engaged in family and personal investments which include real estate development and serving as a Director of United Bancshares, a closely held multi-bank holding company in middle Georgia.
Mr. Mason began his banking career at the First National Bank of Gainesville, Georgia where he became Vice President and Senior Commercial Lending Officer. He left to become non-executive President and Director of the First National Bank of Madison and to take over management of the Mason family agribusiness interests. He later became CEO and Chairman of First National Bank of Madison, which was merged into Trust Company Bank, and served as an Advisory Director at SunTrust until 2003. During this period, Mr. Mason was also a founder and Director of the Bank of Banks County, Homer, Georgia and a founder of the Bank of Georgia, Watkinsville, Georgia.Mr. Mason has served as Chairman of the Georgia Baptist Foundation and as a Trustee of Athens Academy, the Madison Baptist Church and the Morgan County Industrial Development Authority. He was selected for Leadership Georgia and has served as Trustee of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, Tift College, the Madison Morgan County Cultural Center and the Community Foundation for Morgan County.
A graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking, Mr. Mason served in the US Navy as a Lt. j.g. from 1960-1962.
