Prior to forming The Branch-Shelton Company in 1998 and co-founding Nancy Creek Capital in 2005, Mr. Shelton served for 21 years as Managing Director and senior executive of the Corporate Finance Department of The Robinson-Humphrey Company, Inc. While at Robinson-Humphrey, he led numerous mergers, acquisitions and other capital raising transactions and provided extensive financial advisory services to the firm’s clients.
Mr. Shelton spearheaded the rapid expansion of the Corporate Finance Department from a small group of 3 professionals to a major corporate finance investment bank with over 50 professionals that completed more than $10 billion per annum in mergers, acquisitions and capital raising transactions for its clients. As Chairman of both the Commitment Committee and the Merger and Acquisition Fairness Opinion Committee for Robinson-Humphrey, he had oversight responsibility for virtually all corporate finance transactions for many years.
Prior to joining Robinson-Humphrey, Mr. Shelton was an executive of Aladdin Industries, a large, privately-held, diversified manufacturing company. From 1970 to 1975, Mr. Shelton was a consultant with McKinsey and Company. He earned his MBA with honors from the Wharton School of Finance and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration.
